Farmers Markets are about more than food, more than farmers, more than
*buy local*. Farmers markets are about building communities and
building relationships. They are about looking each other in the eye. They are
about people more than product. Farmers markets help tear down
barriers and build relationships. They give a community… heart.

Did you know that our farmers market takes SNAP? What is SNAP? It is the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. Just bring your LoneStar Card to the Welcome Booth and tell the attendant how much you want to spend. You will be issued wooden tokens each worth $1. Spend them at the market on SNAP eligible items. What items are SNAP eligible? The same things eligible in any store – fruits, veggies, breads, muffins, honey, nut butters, coffee (bagged), eggs, pickles, jams & jellies and more. Did you know edible plants and seedlings are SNAP eligible? You can plant a small garden and feed your family all spring… tomatoes, peppers, melons, etc.Does every vendor take SNAP? No, but most who can do.
