Maydelle Country Wines is a small family run winery that sits out at the edge of the little town of Maydelle, Texas. The Texas State Railroad runs through the forested back yard, rattling the windows of our old depot as it passes. A town saturated in history, Maydelle Winery resides within an old train depot from the 1800’s. The Harpers have been on this hillside since the early 1970’s, and have raised three generations of children in these woods.
Steven Harper is the owner, founder, vintner, chief picker of fruits, fearless elderberry hunter, and good friend to all. His winning spirit and quick wit make him laugh while at work or away. Ask him how he got started when you visit the winery, it’s whale of tale you won’t want to miss!
Cheryl Ivie-Harper can politely be called the “know-it-all” around here. She handles the sales, paperwork, stock, where to find things, and where things go. She’s also glad to let you know about other wineries in the area and upcoming wine events.
Brett Horalan Jr, otherwise known as the Wizards Apprentice, joined the tie-dye team just over six years ago. Guided under the fearless elderberry hunter, Steve Harper, the Apprentice assists in producing barrel after barrel of delectable fruit wines. With his first solo wine, Nog’, snatching the bronze at the 2020 TWGGA’s, we’re glad to have him on board!
With children, grandchildren, family and friends, we have been at this for over 17 years, and are looking forward to at least another decade or three of fruity delights.
So, come on, brave the dirt road, and join the fruit revolution. https://www.maydellewines.com https://www.facebook.com/maydellecountrywines
