Our Farmers -Stoney Brook Farm

A seed was planted early in Louis Duffield’s life. But it wasn’t until much later that the father of five followed his lifelong dream to become a farmer. Duffield said he moved to Nacogdoches when he was 5 years old. His grandfather was a sharecropper who grew all the typical crops of the mid-1950s — cotton, corn and sweet potatoes, just to name a few.

“I really enjoyed it, and it gave me the inspiration to own a farm when I was an adult,” he said.

It all started in 1989 when Duffield bought some property on FM 225 and planted 25 peach trees. At the time, Duffield was working for a telephone company. After a job-related transfer to Houston, we quickly decided that the country life was best for our family. We moved back to Nacogdoches and planted our first trees hoping to produce fresh fruit for our kids. As the kids grew, so did our orchard! Our farm now has grown to 77 acres with three fishing ponds, picnic areas, and walk trails. Our staple produce includes blueberries, blackberries, plums, and vegetables. We look forward to providing fresh fruit and vegetables to you and your family! Schedule your family’s tour and U- pick experience today! Stoney Brook Farm offers a variety of produce which is seasonally available on our orchard, local farmers’ markets, and area produce stands. Stoney Brook Farm offers a variety of produce.
